Kingdom Kids Preschool

Director: Angie Tyler

Kingdom Kids Preschool is an early education ministry for preschool-aged children.  Here at Kingdom Kids we understand that the preschool years are a vital time in a child’s life, and our goal is to prepare each child socially, physically, emotionally, and spiritually for Kindergarten and to set a foundation for the rest of their lives.  We believe, to be a positive and effective part of a child’s life, their needs for attention, encouragement, love, and respect must be met.  Since preschoolers are active learners, our teachers strive to provide a variety of large and small group activities that encourage growth in all developmental areas.  Our excellent teacher to student ratio allows each child to learn and grow in a safe and loving environment.  Our teachers are required to complete 6 credit hours of Continuing Education Classes each year, which allows them to bring new and innovative ideas to the classroom.

Our curriculum is a balance of academics and faith based studies.  For academics we use the award-winning Letterland curriculum, which is a unique, phonics-based approach to teaching reading, writing, and spelling to 3-8 year olds.  The children and teachers love the colorful, come-to-life Letterland characters like Annie Apple, Peter Puppy, and Vicky Violet.  The fun, simple stories about each character motivate the children to listen, to think, and to learn.

We use many resources to teach age-appropriate Christian concepts.  The A-Z Bible stories is one way we reiterate the alphabet letter of the week and share beloved Bible stories.  The children attend chapel every other Wednesday, where a wonderful church member expounds on the Bible story that is taught in the classrooms.  Another way we incorporate Bible study is memorizing Scripture.  The four-year-old class is given a Scripture verse each week to memorize, and our three-year-olds and two-year-olds go over Bible verses daily.

The children also visit our library every other Wednesday.  Our amazing church librarian reads fun, engaging stories, and each child checks out a book to take home and share with their parents.

The ministries of Blackwelder Park and Kingdom Kids acknowledge and respect different religions and cultures represented in our community.  We feel that a child best learns about God when she/he experiences feelings of love, acceptance, and respect of self and others in his/her everyday life.  The most important way children learn Bible truths is by being with adults who radiate God’s love and care.  The children who attend Kingdom Kids are encouraged to become independent thinkers and to be responsible for their own actions and behavior.  They are also encouraged to be a kind and helpful friend to others.

Our program is a half-day program with operating hours of 8:30-12:30.  The school year runs August thru May, and we follow the Rowan Salisbury School System calendar for holidays and teacher workdays.  We have classes available for 1-4-year-olds, and we have just added a K-5 program this year as well.  Our enrollment is open to all students who may benefit from our program- regardless of race, nationality or ethnic origin.  We would love the opportunity to serve your family.
