Questions You May Have

We know that it can be a little intimidating to visit a new church for the first time.  So, we wanted to try and answer some questions you may have so that you will have a better idea of what to expect when visiting us here at Blackwelder Park Baptist Church.  It's our hope that you find a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, uplifting and worshipful music, and thought-provoking Bible preaching and teaching.

When are services held?

Click Here to see our service schedule.  All of our services are held in our main sanctuary.

What do I wear?

There is no "dress code" here at Blackwelder Park.  Some of our folks come in more "traditional Sunday dress", and some come dressed in a more casual manner.  Either way, be assured that you will feel welcomed.

What are your services like?

Our 11:00 AM Sunday morning service usually lasts about 60-75 minutes.  It consists of music/singing led by our praise team and our music director/pianist, Amanda Harper.  After the music portion of the service, Pastor Hayes brings an expository message from God's Word.

Our 6:00 PM Sunday evening service usually lasts about 60 minutes and is smaller and more informal.  We open with a couple congregational songs, and then Pastor Hayes goes right into the message from God's Word.

Our 7:00 PM Wednesday night service consists of an opening song followed by a message from God's Word.  We then take time to go over our prayer list and close in prayer.

Will I have to stand up in front of people?

No.  Pastor Hayes does welcome all visitors at the beginning of the service, but you will not be singled out.  However, you can expect to be noticed by our church folks and warmly welcomed to our worship service.  We want you to feel loved and "at home".

You will find a visitor's card in the pew in front of you.  We would ask that you fill it out and drop it in the offering plate so that we can have a record of your visit with us.

Do I need to give in the offering?

No.  The only thing we ask you to put in the offering plate is your visitor's card.  Please don't feel obligated to participate in the offering.

Do you provide childcare during any of your services?

Yes.  We have a nursery available for our Sunday services.  After the music portion of the Sunday morning service, children ages 5 and up are dismissed to children's church.  We also have children's church available on Sunday evenings, and we have a program for children on Wednesday nights as well.  Both of these meet in the Family Life Center while the adults are in the sanctuary. (Please note that, due to the coronavirus pandemic, children's church has been suspended until further notice.  Our nursery is open, however.)

A nursery for babies/preschool children is also available at every service.

Other questions...

If you have a question that has not been answered here, then please feel free to connect with us or ask someone when you arrive for the service.  We will be happy to answer any questions you may have or help you in any way.  We look forward to meeting you personally!
